Here is the story of Mom, Abby Martinez and her daughter Yaili. Abby lost custody of her daughter Yaeli to the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services because Martinez did not fully support her daughter “transitioning” to a boy. Yaeli changed her name to Andrew and began taking cross-sex hormones, but still struggled with depression. In 2019, Yaeli took her own life. She was 19 years old. Martinez says DCFS took her daughter from her.
